About The East Carolina Heart Institute

The East Carolina Heart Institute (ECHI) is the first in North Carolina devoted exclusively to education, research, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The institute is associated with Vidant Medical Center and East Carolina University. Vidant Medical Center is looking for nurses (RN's) to become a part of our CVOR team.

East Carolina Heart Institute includes six surgical suites that consist of adult and pediatric open heart, robotics open heart, vascular and thoracic procedures.   • A registered nurse (RN) will deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base.
  • A registered nurse (RN) will provide proficient, age specific, professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients in accordance with legal, hospital practice and departmental policies and procedures, established standards of nursing care and practice, and as defined by the state of North Carolina.
  • A registered nurse (RN) will participate in Quality Improvement Activities.
  • A registered nurse (RN) will attend educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

  • ADN required and BSN preferred.
  • Current NC RN licensure required.
  • One year of current Operating Room RN experience is required. Prefer CVOR experience.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association required.

Other Information

  • One Position is full time, 40 hours per week, day shift, weekdays, with shift options of 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts. Call obligation of approximately one night per week and every 5-6th weekend.
  • One Position is part time with benefits, 24 hours per week, three days per week, 8 hour shifts.  Call obligation of approximately one night every other week and every 5-6th weekend. One late night obligation every other week.
