Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC.  The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities.  Vidant Health has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Wired healthcare organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 1 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Job Summary

This position will provide end-to-end, desk-side as well as network support for Vidant Health (VH) hospitals and clinics. The position will be responsible for developing, documenting and communicating support solutions that will adequately meet the business goals of the organization. This includes responding to and resolving issues reported via the VH Information Services (IS) Service Desk. This role will install, configure, operate and maintain support services for existing and new VH technologies. Supported technologies include desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, network connectivity and clinical hardware. The supported environment includes technologies produced by Microsoft, EPIC, Philips, HP and Dell. In cases where resolving an issue requires engaging additional resources, IS engineers and vendors may be engaged. Project participation may include analysis of support requirements and deploying solutions effectively meet the needs of VH customers. The position will be based at Vidant Beaufort hospital and will have responsibilities for all Vidant entities within the geographical region.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to incidents and requests reported via the IS Service Desk
  • Install, configure and upgrade workstation hardware and peripherals (including WOWs, Medcarts, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.) based on VH IS standards
  • Install, administer network  and telecommunications equipment based on VH IS standards
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of cabling, network infrastructure, telecommunications and associated systems
  • Maintains and develops expertise in current and evolving IS technologies
  • Work with outside vendors as a VH IS representative
  • For non-working hours, on-call as needed
  • Access IS documentation to resolve issues in the environment
  • Demonstrate a high level of problem solving ability in order to determine the cause of IS problems , consistently recommend and implement effective solutions
  • Responsible for coordinating training environment to help support the needs of the organization
  • Participate in IS projects, serving as a technical resource and primary point person for location specific initiatives
  • Analyze departmental requests and fulfill based on current VH IS standards Monitor, maintain and determine budget needs for technology

Minimum Requirements

  • AA/AS or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years total work experience
  • Has knowledge of support requirements for state-of-the art information technologies associated with Health Care. Assist in the testing, debugging of problems are required by domain.
  • Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise.
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.

Preferred Requirements

  • A+ certification preferred
  • Network+ certification preferred
  • Able to identify, analyze and resolve simple as well as complex problems in the network and telecommunications areas
