About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

 Responsibilities 

Patient Care Delivery: 

  • Completes individualized assessments per physician order and develops individualized treatment plans.
  • Participates in treatment team conferences.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions in group and individual sessions.
  • Provides education to patients and families.
  • Responsible for discharge planning and completion of discharge summary per policies and procedures. 

Patient Care Documentation: 

  • Completes initial assessment, treatment plan, care plan goals, daily session notes, patient care conference notes, education and discharge instructions/ recommendations per RT policies and procedures.

 Professional Practice and Development: 

  • Maintains pertinent certifications/licensures
  • Completes personal goals on annual performance appraisal
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education
  • Supervises students and volunteers as assigned
  • Responsible for meeting productivity standards
  • Serves on committees as assigned

 Minimum Position Requirements: 

  • BS/ BA and or MS in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreational Therapy required.
  • Maintain State of North Carolina Recreational Therapy licensure (LRT) through the State of NC Licensure Board.
  • Maintain certification as Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) through National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
  • One year clinical experience working as LRT/CTRS is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge/awareness of RT interventions/ competencies.
  • Strong working knowledge of individual and group facilitation skills.

Other

  • Position is part time,  Supplemental Pool status.   Hours would be to work every third weekend with 4 morning hours on Saturday (8am - noon) and 6-8 hours on Sunday (8:30am - 4:30 pm).
  • Pay will be based on years of related work experience and will include weekend differential.
