Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient/client.
  • Assess the appropriateness of care by acquiring and evaluating clinical data and assessing the overall status of the patient based on the age of the patient
  • Documents all pertinent information as pertains to patients’ past and current Medical History. Documentation of contrast in Healthspan and of patient information in PACS as needed
  • Assess patient’s current medical status to evaluate changes that require immediate medical intervention. Knows whom to call and what information to give and Initiates proper Code Blue when indicated
  • Assists Radiologist with procedures and administers contrast media in accordance to protocols and supervision of Radiologist. Completes Contrast Questionnaire prior to procedure and is Competent in the use of sterile tray technique
  • Understands and abide by departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Obtains radiology order prior to procedure, ensures appropriate clinical information is present on order and that appropriate exam is ordered in accordance to patients needs
  • Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to the departmental dress code and maintaining a stocked, clean work environment.
  • Demonstrates proper radiation safety for patient, self and others within procedure
  • Reviews images to ensure that required information has been collected and is of the highest quality
  • Charge for procedures, contrast, and patient supplies while maintaining operating expenses
  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper handwashing between each patient
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Uses department “scripts” to effectively communicate with other departments, patients, families, coworkers and students in person or over the phone
  • Demonstrates safe operation of all equipment in compliance with department policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards
  • As directed by the supervisor may have additional responsibility as charge technologist and/or preceptor for students and/or new employees
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills for electronic charting, billing and documentation
  • Participates in In-service Education, and obtains 24 education contact hours per biennium

Minimum Requirements

Current R.T.R. Certification by the American Regisry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) or

Registry Eligible with Rt(R) credential obtained within 12 months from hire date or registry eligibiltiy status

Current BLS, if not current at time of hire, must complete within first 6 months of employment and maintain.

Other Information

This is a non benefit position.  PRN, on an as needed basis.  Must be able to work all shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
