The Nurse Residency Program provides an extensive orientation to the roles and responsibilities associated with professional practice. This process is a minimum of 4 to 6 months depending upon the specific clinical setting.
As a Nurse Resident, you will:

  • Be a part of a cohort of other new graduate nurses.
  • Work side by side with a dedicated clinical coach throughout your orientation.
  • Participate in classroom and clinical training experiences.
  • Receive mentorship from a nurse educator.

Program Requirements

  • ADN or BSN required

  • North Carolina RN license must be active prior to start date.

  • 0-6 months of hospital RN experience.

  • Retention bonus with three year agreement as Vidant Health team members.  To receive retention bonus allotments during this time, you must remain in a Full-time position, you may not transfer to Part-time or supplemental pool.

  • Applicant can attach references to the application or drop off at our office. We require two Clinical References on school letterhead from nursing instructors with at least one being a senior level instructor.

Position Summary

Deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base.  Develop, implements and evaluates/revises a plan of care.  Attends educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development.  Participate in Service Excellence Program.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support may be required depending on unit requirements.
