Position Summary

36 Bed General/Intermediate Mixed Medicine Unit

Primary Population:

The population consists of adult patients with general medical problems and with the following subspecialties:

  • Chronic and acute renal failure
  • Pulmonary disease processes
  • General cardiac monitoring
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • GI Disturbances
  • Hypertension
  • Infectious disease processes
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic Cardiac Processes

Registered nurses provide care in conjunction with the nursing assistant and medical team. Assignments are based on the patient’s needs, the geographical location of the patients, and the resources available. The charge nurse does not have a patient assignment. BLS is required upon hire.

  • Nurses are supported and encouraged to pursue a BSN or higher degree within five years of hire.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Diploma is required.
  • Bachelors Degree is preferred.
  • 0 - 2 years experience is required.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required.
  • Basic Life Support is required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required:  (i.e. supervision, computers, etc.) 
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet the twenty four (24) hour needs of the patients. 
  • Possess organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
  • Maintains stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications.
