Position Summary

32 bed flex unit – taking majority Intermediate Level Patients

The population consists of multiple types of surgical patients and includes the following:  

  • Gastrointestinal, Urology, GYN, and Head & Neck surgeries.
  • Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Wound management and treatments
  • Patient education related to surgical procedures, disease processes, diagnostic procedures and tracheostomy care.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines such as Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Navigators, Unit based Case Management and Social Work.

Skills that will be utilized are continuous infusion medication management, pain management, wound vac dressing changes, surgical drains, epidurals, arterial lines, central lines, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, various intravenous drips i.e. cardiac, insulin, heparin, and cardiac monitoring.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.
