Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry. Position Summary

  • Delivers quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) to guide care delivery Functions at the "expert" level of Benner Novice to Expert Continuum.
  • Executes, revises and evaluates the Vidant Medical Center Nursing Professional Practice Model and Model of Care Delivery to support professional practice and collaborative partnerships with each other, physicians and members of the healthcare team.
  • Engages in professional growth and development, continuing competence and lifelong learning, quality care and research to positively affect empirical outcomes.  Develops others in the profession.
  • Participates in a leadership role in community partnerships and collaborative initiatives such as professional organizations and community outreach programs. 
  • Develops in and serves in a leadership role at the unit and/or organizational level.
  • Leads change at the unit level in partnership with unit leadership on quality and/or research initiatives to achieve outcomes.
  • Fulfills criteria spelled out in the Professional and Clinical Excellence pathway.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) Required.
  • Registered Nurse or temporary North Carolina licensure or status as defined in job description.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.
  • Specialty Certification Required
  • Clinical experience as part of education.
  • More than 4 years of nursing experience required.
  • Speciality certification and a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and meets all the other criteria/requirements as defined by the RISE (Clinical Ladder) program for a Staff Nurse IV.
  • FOR EASTCARE TRANSPORT RN's:ACLS, BLS, PALS. NRP, TNCC must be obtained before the end of orientation, One specialty certification for example, CFRN must be obtained within 2 years of hire is required. 3 to 5 years experience as an RN is required from an ICU or ER setting.
  • The ability to treat patients under EastCare protocols is determined by the EastCare Medical Director.

Other Information

  • Night position.
  • Three 12hr. shifts 1st week, four 12hr. shifts second week.
  • Rotating holidays and weekends.
