Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.  Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base. Develop, implements and evaluates/revises a plan of care.

  • Attends educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development. Participate in Service Excellence Program. 

  • Provides safe, therapeutic care for assigned patient in accordance with the nursing policies and procedures.

  • Implements nursing care as directed by the patient plan of Reports changing patient status that affects unit staffing needs to charge nurse.

  • Utilizes an interdisciplinary approach in implementing and coordinating nursing care and sets priorities for care of patients based on acuity. Safely performs and documents the nursing procedures required by the patient assignment consistent with physician's orders and following Vidant Medical Center policy and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.

  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.

Other Information

  • Hours - Requires 36 hours to be worked per six weeks within identified hours of unit need.  SP Level II is required to work one off shift and two weekend shifts per six- week schedule.
