Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 117-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home. Our partnership with Vidant Health enhances our wide range of services and improves the quality of care our patients receive. More than 20 specialties are represented by Vidant Edgecombe Hospital's medical staff, assuring the people of Edgecombe county that almost all their health needs can be met right here at home. In addition to acute care, our services include rehabilitation, oncology and outpatient clinics.
The OR Staff Nurse performs in a number of specialized professional nursing roles which include: acting as a circulating nurse by continuously providing assistance to the scrub team, to the anesthetist, and by observing aseptic techniques; acting as assistant under the direct supervision of the surgeon; and acting as a surgical technician in various surgical procedures. Tact, courtesy, and cooperation must be observed in all contacts with patients, other departments, surgeons, and all members of the operating team. The RN is responsible for performance according to practice standards in other areas such as PACU, Preadmissions, SDS, GI and CSR. Other responsibilities include continuous ongoing assessments with implementation of appropriate interventions for all assigned patients.
The employee must hold a current license to practice as a RN in the State of North Carolina; preferably one year of experience with knowledge of current surgical techniques, methods, and principles of operating room nursing. BCLS is required, with ACLS preferred. Certification in operating room nursing is a plus. Must be efficient in the emergency management of patients.
