Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. Ahoskie offers a moderate cost of living, a strong sense of community, and a temperate climate and location to support a variety of year round outdoor activities, such as boating, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and golf.

Primary Population:

The population consists of infants to senior adult following subspecialties:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedic
  • ENT
  • OB/GYN
  • Podiatry
  • Dentistry

Operating room takes pride in our performance on quality indicators. Our team is looking for staff that sees the medical population as their passion and places quality/safe patient care at the forefront of your practice.


  • RN ratio 2:1

  • Monday through Friday 0700-1530.

  • Professional staff development opportunities that promote expert clinical and leadership pathways.

Position Summary

  • A Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care which is population specific for patients in his/her assigned unit or clinical settings, while providing care that is grounded in mutually beneficial partnerships with patients and families.

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.

  • American Heart Association issued CPR Healthcare Provider Certification.

  • ACLS  and PALS certification is required.  If not current at time of hire, must complete and maintain within first 6 months of employment.

  • CPI training if home unit is ED, Northside or Stepping Stones.  If not current at time of hire, must complete and maintain within first 6 months of employment.

Other Information

  • This is a full-time position, 36 hours per week. Weekday and weekend call required.
