Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Position Summary

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervises the activities of unlicensed care providers. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources. Leads/guides licensed practical nurses, nurse aides and ancillary associates in the delivery of patient care. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSN required
  • NCRN licensure required
  • One year of additional graduate education may be substitued for one year of experience with a maximum substitution of two years.
  • Two to three years of clinical experience in nursing.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous leadership experience and knowledge of computer applications, such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Groupwise.

Other Information

  • Full-time with benefits
  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and office days from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Time in staffing(functioning in the charge nurse roll) and office time will be based on OIP recommendations for the unit.
  • In lieu of current BSN the successful candidate may enter an educational plan to complete the BSN within 3 years.
