38 Bed General Medicine Unit

Primary Population:

The population consists of adult patients with general medical problems and with the following subspecialties:

  • Chronic and acute renal failure
  • Pulmonary disease processes
  • General cardiac monitoring
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • GI Disturbances
  • Hypertension
  • Infectious disease processes
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic Cardiac Processes

Registered nurses provide care in conjunction with the care partner and medical team. Assignments are based on the patient’s needs, the geographical location of the patients, and the resources available. The charge nurse does not have a patient assignment. BLS is required upon hire.

Skills that will be utilized are continuous infusion medication management, pain management, wound care, central lines, tracheotomy patients, IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, and cardiac monitoring.

Clinical ladder is promoted for staff to grow professionally and our team is committed to making staff successful with this endeavor.  Professional organization membership and certification are encouraged at the two year mark of employment.  3 South takes pride in our performance on quality indicators.  Our team is looking for staff that sees the medical population as their passion and places quality/safe patient care at the forefront of your practice.

Positions

  • 0.9 FTE: (3) 12 hr. shifts/week, (6) weekend shifts per 6 week schedule
  • Flexible staffing options: Day Shift, Night Shift, Rotating Day/Night (Based on staff preference and unit needs)

Orientation

  • 16 weeks / New graduates
  • Work “clinical coaches” schedule, may also have an alternate coach identified
  • Structured week-by-week program based on ideal patient situations/diagnosis—shift assignments evaluated in accordance with orientation weeks/opportunities

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.
