Hemodialysis Unit - HDU

13 Beds

Primary Population:

The renal dialysis unit cares for those patients experiencing the following disease process:

  • End Stage Renal Disease
  • Acute Renal Failure
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Sepsis

Registered nurses provide care in conjunction with the care partner and medical team. Care is provided across the continuum, from infants to adults. Nurses are trained to perform Hemodialysis Treatments, Peritoneal Dialysis Treatments, and Apheresis Treatments. ICU and vented patients are 1:1 care at bedside. Charge nurse without patient assignment. BLS is required at onset of employment. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.
