Position Summary

  • Delivers quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, implementation, and evaluation) to guide care delivery.
  • Executes, revises and evaluates the Vidant Medical Center Nursing Professional Practice Model and Model of Care.  Delivery to support professional practice and collaborative partnerships with each other, physicians and members of the healthcare team.
  • Engages in professional growth and development, continuing competence and lifelong learning, quality of care and research to positively affect empirical outcomes.  Develops others in the profession.
  • Participates in a leadership role, in community partnerships and collaborative initiatives such as processional organizations and community outreach programs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associated Degree Nursing (ADN) Required.
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) Preferred
  • Registered Nurse or temporary North Carolina licensure or status as defined in job description.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • Clinical experience as part of education.
  • Meets all the other criteria/requirements as defined by EastCrare Policy and Procedure.
  • The ability to treat patients under EastCare protocols is determined by the EastCare Medical Director.


Eastcare Flight Nurses must meet the following requirements:
ACLS, PALS. NRP, TNCC must be obtained before the end of orientation.  Must obtain your EMT within one year from the end of your orientation.  One specialty certification for example, CFRN or must be obtained within 2 years of hire is required. 3 to 5 years of experience as a RN is required from an ICU or ER setting.

Childrens Transport Team Flight Nurses must meet the following requirements:
PALS, NRP must be obtained before the end of orientation.  ENPC and EMT preferred within one year from the end of orientation.  One specialty certification in neonatal/pediatric field (for example C-NPT) obtained within 2 years of hire.  3 years of experience as a RN with some experience in neonatal, pediatric, or critical care field.

Preferred Requirements

  • Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care/ICU experience preferred

Other Information

Come join the Children's Hospital Transport Team where you will function as a member of the critical care transport team and be responsible for the care of critically ill and injured pediatric and neonatal patients working with Vidant EastCare. You will also be assisting the Children's Hospital inpatient units when transports are not required.
