Position Summary

  • Delivers quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation) to guide care delivery. Functions at the Proficient level of Benner's Novice to Expert Continuum.
  • Adopts, evaluates and revises the Vidant Medical Center Nursing Professional Practice Model and Model of Care Delivery to support professional practice and collaborative partnerships by leading teams, partnering with physicians and others members of the healthcare team.
  • Engages in professional growth and development, continuing competence and lifelong learning, quality care and research to affect empirical outcomes.
  • Leads community partnerships and collaborative initiatives such as outreach or professional organizations.
  • Serves in a nursing leadership roles at the unit and organizational level. Engages in continuous leadership development of self and others
  • Partners with unit leadership on quality and research initiatives to achieve unit and organizational outcomes. Leads initiatives at the unit and organizational level to positively affect patient outcomes.
  • Fulfills criteria spelled out in the Professional and Clinical Excellence Pathway.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.
  • Specialty Certification Required.
  • Clinical experience as part of education.
  • More than 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Speciality certification required and meets all other criteria/requirements as defined by the RISE (Clinical Ladder) program for Staff Nurse III.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
