Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Position Summary

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervises the activities of unlicensed care providers. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources. Leads/guides licensed practical nurses, nurse aides and ancillary associates in the delivery of patient care. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Requirements

Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.

Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.

LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:

a.  Requires 12 hours to be scheduled per six weeks schedule within identified hours of unit need (see open shifts).

b.  The salary for a SP RN Level 0 is based on years of experience.

c.  Education, orientation, and staff meeting time is paid at the employee's alternate rate.

d.  New agreements must be completed annually set by VH or as level or unit needs change.

e.  Worked hours are obtained by bidding on the open shifts posted after schedule approval for core staff via FlexWork and open shifts posted. No pre-scheduling of hours.

f.  Failure to work 12 hours during the six-week schedule for 2 consecutive schedules will result in termination.
