Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry. Vidant Medical Center recently received Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet® recognizes health care organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and professional practice.

Position Summary

  • Deliver direct, quality patient care, utilizing a basic clinical skill level and knowledge base. 
  • Develop, implements and evaluates/revises a plan of care.
  • Attends educational programs and staff orientation which promotes personal and professional development. 
  • Participate in Service Excellence Program.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit requirements.


LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:

a. Requires 36 hours to be scheduled per six weeks schedule within identified hours of unit need (see open shifts).

b..Education, orientation, and staff meeting time is paid at the employee's alternate rate.

c..New agreements must be completed annually set by VH or as level or unit needs change.

d. Worked hours are obtained by bidding on the open shifts posted after schedule approval for core staff via FlexWork and open shifts posted. No prescheduling of hours.

e. SP RN Level I is required to work one weekend shift minimum per 6 weeks schedule. Weekend shift begins at 3 PM on Friday through Monday at 7 AM.

f. Failure to work 36 hours during the six-week schedule for 2 consecutive schedules will result in return to a lower level status and/or termination
