The James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center offers 197 beds and bassinets and an array of specialized services unequaled in eastern North Carolina. Position Summary

Children's Transport Registered Nurse will function as a member of the critical care transport team and be responsible for the care of critically ill and injured pediatric and neonatal patients working with Vidant EastCare. You will also be assisting the Children's Hospital inpatient units when transports are not required.

Vidant EastCare provides critical care transport using both air and ground service to Eastern, North Carolina. We are based at Vidant Medical Center, home of the region's only Level-1 Trauma Center and Children's Hospital. Vidant EastCare is nationally recognized for safety, quality and service. We are fully accredited by CAMTS (the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems).

Minimum Requirements

  • NC RN licensure (or eligibility)
  • CPR/BLS certification that is AHA certified
  • Nursing specialty certifications pertinent to scope of care and patient population are required for clinical staff within 24 months of employment. (CFRN, CCRN, CTRN, CEN, PNCCT, CPEN)
  • At least 3 years of RN Experience
  • Experience preferrably in a pediatric critical care, neonatal critical care, or emergency/ transport of pediatric population.

Preferred Requirements

  • Must be independent and assertively take on challenging responsibilities and hold self ultimately accountable for results and performance.
  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Has extensive knowledge of medications as they apply to quality patient care.
  • Must have excellent multi-tasking skills. Prioritize and perform a variety of concurrent tasks with minimal direction.
  • Must have excellent knowledge of physical functions and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve unusual problems and give articulate direction.
  • Works independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to meet CAMTS requirements
  • Requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing, and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights
