Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC.   • Assumes accountability and coordinates activities related to Quality Management and Peer Review Activities.

  • Maintains compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.

  • Participates in education of self and others.

  • Serves as a role model to the managers and staff in supporting VROA and Vidant.

  • Complete Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation(FPPE) process for active medical staff.

  • Synthesize medical staff data and draws conclusion of findings.

  • Cultivates relationship with the physicians and serves as a liaison between physicians and the management staff.

  • Manages projects as assigned with agreed upon deadline.

  • Performs others duties as assigned.

  • Uses department “scripts” (i.e. “Relate”) to effectively communicate with other departments, patients, families, coworkers and students in person or over the phone.

  • Demonstrates safe operation of all equipment in compliance with department policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards.

  • As directed by the supervisor may have additional responsibility.

  • Participates in Employee Forums and Inservice Education on an annual basis.

  • Uses Just culture and Patient Safety Behaviors to provide safe patient care.

  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper hand washing.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing  preferred.

  • Proficient in Excel and Word.

  • Three years of experience in an acute care setting, with experience in quality improvement preferred.

  • Current BLS, if not current at time of hire, must complete within first 6 months of employment and maintain.

Other Information

  • 1 part-time vacancy  is available, 20 hours per week.

  • Pay rate $21.00-33.60/hr (actual rate depends on experience).
