The Outer Banks Hospital, located in Nags Head, North Carolina, is a full service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital opened in March 2002 and is one of the newest hospitals in eastern North Carolina. The hospital's 21 private rooms are designed to meet the needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season. The labor and delivery area consists of two labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms, a five-bed nursery, a dedicated caesarean-section operating room and a triage room.


  • As a member of the Quality team, the Quality Data Specialist provides safe, expedient, and cost-effective administrative assistance for the full scope of activities in the Quality Department. 
  • He/She will be involved in the daily operations of the Quality Department and will perform a diverse variety of administrative and technical support activities for Performance Improvement, Quality, Risk Management and Environment of Care. 
  • The Quality Data Specialist must demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with diverse people of various educational levels and backgrounds. 
  • The Quality Data Specialist must demonstrate advanced computer skills in job appropriate software such as MS Office, EPIC, EHR and data extraction.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate in business or related field preferred.

  • Must possess strong personal computer skills (word processing, presentation and spreadsheet) and customer service experience with a minimum of three (3) years relative experience. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor in business or related field.
  • Implementation of computer technology software programs preferred. A minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a health care environment and medical terminology also preferred.

Other Information

  • This is a full time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
