About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Demonstrates appropriate caring behavior in the workplace.
  • Provides directions to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Provides escorts in a timely manner as needed to ensure safety.
  • Maintains and monitors assigned lobbies.
  • Monitors metal detectors in ED/CED to prevent introduction of weapons into hospital.
  • Uses hand-held scanner for persons who set off detector.
  • Provides excellent customer service for those entering assigned lobby areas. Patrols facilities both inside and outside to assure the security and safety of the facility, patients, employees and visitors.
  • Provides security for assigned posts such as lobby areas that may or may not have Metal Detectors.
  • Subdue resisting suspects utilizing approved tactics and equipment.
  • Assists with restraining patients when directed to do so by an attending physician.
  • Reports all unusual activities or hazardous conditions.
  • Prepares investigative and other reports, including sketches, using appropriate grammar symbols ad mathematical computations.
  • Enforces the Vidant Medical Center Parking Policy.
  • Responsible for enforcement of parking policy to include issuance of parking citations and application of parking immobilizer.
  • Blocks off parking lots and other areas of campus using cones, barrels and other parking implements for special events, construction, etc.
  • Assist parking manager with monitoring recorded line for timely clearances and other office duties/responsibilities.
  • Operates computer driven, electronic equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Can be utilized for crowd control and direction during emergencies.
  • Assists motorists to include vehicle jump starts.
  • Provides door unlocks to authorized staff.
  • Provides releases for Morgue. 

Minimum Requirements

  • High School degree required.
  • Required training/courses: Defensive Tactics, PPCT Baton, PPCT Handcuffing OC Pepper Spray, CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Metal Detector, Parking Immobilizer Training, and Ticke Trak. (required within 6 months of hire).
  • One year or less experience required: preferably in security, law enforcement or military.
  • Valid NC Drivers License is required.

  • 2 full time vacancies, 6:00 pm - 6:00 am.
