About the Outer Banks Hospital

Located in the beautiful coastal town of Nags Head, NC. The Outer Banks Hospital offers high-quality care in a compassionate environment—it’s what we’re known for on the Outer Banks.

We opened in March 2002 as a joint venture between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Our facility includes eighteen acute care medical-surgical beds, two labor and delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, a level II nursery bed, a designated caesarian section room, three operating rooms, outpatient and diagnostic services along with a 24-hour emergency department. Affiliated with The Outer Banks Hospital is The Outer Banks Medical Group (a Vidant Medical Group partner) which is comprised of eight physician practices.

As a community hospital, we offer a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. We meet the health care needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to 250,000 in the summer months.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator assists the Director of Community Outreach & Development in planning, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of Outreach Community events, fundraising programs, and supports the operations of the Outreach Department and the Development Council.  Supports the Outreach Department and the Development Council achieve program objectives and overall program mission. Develops relationships with and acts as a liaison to internal and external contacts. Assists with data collection, data entry and other computer needs supporting department objectives as appropriate. Attends staff meetings and assists program staff to meet department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support for the Department Community Outreach & Development of The Outer Banks Hospital with regard to community outreach, events and programs, and Health Coach scheduling.

  • Functions as active member of the Community Outreach Team and initiates and plans all logistics for OBH Community outreach events/activities based on the Community Health Assessment and Strategic Marketing Plan.

  • Takes and responds to requests from the community and coordinates OBH’s participation in community events that align with our mission and strategic plan.

  • Assists the Director of Community Outreach & Development with Development Council activities and events.

  • Assists with Development Council efforts including organizing Council and community benefit grant committee meetings, taking minutes, running reports, handling mailings, record keeping and other administrative functions associated with the Council as assigned.

  • Monitors status of all projects on a regular basis, notifying the Director of Community Outreach & Development when an action is needed to meet deadlines.

  • Collects data and program statistics and generates reports/tables & graphs as indicated to assure communication of program functions and achievements.

 

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.

Computer skills (especially Microsoft based Word, Excel, Power Point) and ability to learn organization's database. Ability to make independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

Organizational skills and ability to coordinate a high volume of diverse assignments, effectively handling competing priorities and maintaining attention to detail.

Meticulous grammar, editing, writing, presentation and communication skills.

Experience:

Three to five years’ experience in Marketing, Public Relations, Community Relations, Program Administration, or related field.

Other Information

This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, position.

This position is eligible for part-time benefits.

This position may work evenings and weekends on occasion.
