About the Outer Banks Hospital

Located in the beautiful coastal town of Nags Head, NC. The Outer Banks Hospital offers high-quality care in a compassionate environment—it’s what we’re known for on the Outer Banks.

We opened in March 2002 as a joint venture between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Our facility includes eighteen acute care medical-surgical beds, two labor and delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, a level II nursery bed, a designated caesarian section room, three operating rooms, outpatient and diagnostic services along with a 24-hour emergency department.  Affiliated with The Outer Banks Hospital is The Outer Banks Medical Group (a Vidant Medical Group partner) which is comprised of eight physician practices. 

As a community hospital, we offer a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. We meet the health care needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to 250,000 in the summer months.

Position Summary

This position has management accountability and decision-making authority for determining the strategies, interventions and activities that will be effective and appropriate to further enable the capability of the Urgent Cares.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring performance of the Urgent Cares in accordance with goal and stewardship responsibilities.
  • Communicates key management decisions and informs appropriate leadership of issues affecting the Urgent Cares’ performance.
  • Facilitates development of and adjustment to work plans, work processes, budgets, staffing levels, and other resources needed to deliver services that meet expectations.
  • Facilitates change to advance the organization and uses resources and operational practices to drive execution of plans.
  • Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are followed to support a safety culture, evidence-based care, high reliability, performance improvement and transparency.
  • Creates a positive culture that enhances experience for patients and staff and engages and inspires the team to top performance.
  • Serves as a key liaison between the leadership teams and staff of the Urgent Cares.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree required in a related field. An Associate’s degree with 3-4 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.  Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state strongly preferred.

Experience: Three (3) years of management experience in an outpatient healthcare facility and/or practice management required. Experience should include direct involvement with supervising allied health staff, coordinating medical staff, and communicating with system organization.

  • This is a full-time position.
  • This position is eligible for full-time benefits.
  • The Urgent Care Centers are open 7 days a week.
  • There are two Urgent Care Centers, one in Nags Head and one in Southern Shores.
