About the Outer Banks Hospital

The Outer Banks Hospital, located in Nags Head, North Carolina, is a full service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital opened in March 2002 and is one of the newest hospitals in eastern North Carolina. The hospital's 21 private rooms are designed to meet the needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season. The labor and delivery area consists of two labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms, a five-bed nursery, a dedicated caesarean-section operating room and a triage room.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates acceptable level of Service Excellence behaviors.

  • Meets professional standards.
  • Patrols the facilities both inside and outside to assure the safety and security of persons and property.
  • Demonstrates skill and proficiency with equipment used on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of law enforcement procedures and the ability to carry them out.
  • Shows an understanding of the hospital and a command of the functions required.
  • Demonstrates an ability to interact positively with patients, visitors, and staff.  

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 1 - 2 years of formal education/experience is required.
  • Basic Law Enforcement Training is required.
  • Law Enforcement certification by the State of North Carolina, Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Minimum age of 20 years is required.
  • Selected applicants must pass complete medical examination, psychological testing, and Police applicant background investigation.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in military, law enforcement, security experience / background is required
