Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.


  • Perform certain clinical tasks that they have been approved to perform through an educational or clinical check-off by a qualified member of the staff to include specimen collection, performing EKG’s when needed, and patient education. The phlebotomist is responsible for the majority of the phlebotomy performed in the hospital.  In addition to this, the phlebotomist is responsible for all clerical duties associated with maintaining a well-organized laboratory and assisting with training of phlebotomy students.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have computer skills to include basic data entry, word processing and excel
  • Training and experience in phlebotomy principles and techniques 

Preferred Requirements

  • Certification in an accredited phlebotomy program preferred

Other Information

  • This is on an as needed basis (PRN)
  • Works less than 20 hours a week
  • Non-benefit position
  • Shifts will rotate
  • Some weekends and holidays required
  • Pay scale $9.20-$14.72 (rate of pay is based on experience)
