The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. Position Summary

The Phlebotomists provides safe, expedient, cost-effective Blood collection services.?? A Phlebotomist evaluates, best site collections from patients of all ages?? in a wide variety of clinical settings.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient/client.

Prioritize the ordered laboratory tests by assessing which tests are more critical and collecting them accordingly based on the age and difficulty of being able to obtain a sample from the patient.??

Assess patient??s current medical status to evaluate changes that require immediate medical intervention. Knows whom to call and what information to give and?? Initiates proper Code Blue when indicated

Participates in life-support activities as required, responds to Trauma, High Risk Deliveries, ERT and Code Blue emergencies throughout the hospital

Demonstrates appropriate aseptic technique for specimen integrity, and safety for patient, self and others during collection.??

Charge for collection of serum on all hospital collected outpatients while maintaining minimum operating expense by proper selection of collection of materials.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current BLS, and maintain during employment
  • Active status with certifying agency recommended.
  • Graduate of phlebotomy program with applicable certificate.   

Preferred Requirements

  • ASCP or ASPT certified phlebotomist (PBT) preferred. 

Other Information

This is a non-beenfit position.  Must be able to work all shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
