Position Summary

  • Performs all essential tasks and responsibilities related to preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Actions reflect and demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care in which the patient needs and safety are primary.
  • Ensures that policies, procedures, and regulations are followed to support a culture of accountability, consistency, continuous quality improvement, and safety. 
  • Actively learns new skills to enhance the provision of pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

  • Clear, professional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Receive written prescriptions or refill requests and verify that the information is complete and accurate
  • Accurate, efficient data entry processing and medication preparation for pharmacist review and verification utilizing available information technology
  • Basic pharmacy inventory management  to include procurement, inventory level monitoring, participation, storage, and returns
  • Accountable for participation in the drug utilization review (DUR) process along with the pharmacist to minimize delays in prescription fulfillment and optimize patient safety.
  • Collect, update, and document patient information
  • Compounding of non-sterile products
  • Participation in quality improvement
  • Ensures an exceptional customer service experience that reflects and supports Vidant Health's mission, vision, and values
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent is required.
  • PTCB certification preferred
  • Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy - current or within 30 days of employment is required.
  • 1 year to 3 years experience in retail pharmacy is required.

Other Information

  • Full-time position - 40 hours/week.
  • Will rotate 8 hour shifts - times will vary 6:15am to 7:00pm. This includes rotations with weekends and holidays.
