Responsibilities

  • Fills physcians orders, medication kits and carts, automated dispensing devices, and stock requisition accurately. 
  • Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.
  • Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule.
  • Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and stoing medications ad suppliesin appropriatlocations.
  • Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date.
  • Identiifes and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
  • Restocks medicaton and IV dispensing areas accurately within specified time periods.
  • Repackages bulk medications in unit-does package safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques.
  • Picks up requisitions and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
  • Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately.
  • Answers telephone, identifying self and department.  Directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Answers requests at the window and makes stat deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas when requested.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments
  • Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.  Files documentation in appropriate locations.
  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication.
  • Keeps pharmacy area clean, neat and well organized.  Keeps pharmacy equipment clean.
  • Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly.  Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
  • Maintains current technician certification (if certified)
  • Participates in orientation, education, and training programs.  Reviews literature and other materials as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Works weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary

Preferred Requirements

  • Current Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
  • 2-3 years pharmacy technician certification preferred
