Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC.   • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age and abilities of the Vidant Wellness Center member or guest.
  • Demonstrates safe operation of all equipment in compliance with departmental policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards.
  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper hand washing techniques between clients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of member and guest information.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills.
  • Participates in Inservice Education.
  • Assess the appropriateness of exercise related services by evaluating client data and assessing the overall status of the client based on age and abilities.
  • Initiates an exercise plan and appropriate goals individualized to the client’s level of function.
  • Provides accurate and appropriate member and guest education related to services and programs of Vidant Wellness Center obtaining proper documentation and signatures as needed.
  • Participates in life-support activities as required, responds to emergency situations and emergency practice drills throughout Vidant Wellness Center.
  • Incorporates department protocol driven policies and procedures appropriately to direct Vidant Wellness Center services.
  • Uses department scripts to effectively communicate with other departments, members, guests and coworkers and students in person or over the phone.
  • Designs, implements and continually evaluates safe, creative and highly personalized conditioning programs to achieve each client’s specific goals in a safe and effective manner.
  • Networks with Coordinator of Exercise Programming in the development of exercise plans involving high risk clients ensuring that plans incorporate pertinent information as it pertains to the member’s past and current medical history.
  • Develops and maintains a client base through personal marketing, client referral and strong repeat business as measured by growth in sessions sold and sessions trained.
  • Meets goals measured through client goal attainment, client satisfaction survey scores, client follow-up/complaint resolution and appointment timeliness.????

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Education.
  • 3 months experience in a medically modeled exercise, wellness program center, cardiac rehab setting, adult fitness program, or high quality community or commercial exercise facility.
  • National Personal training certification or Exercise specialist or related degree.
  • Current CPR, if not current, must complete within first six months of employment and maintain.

Other Information

  • Position is prn (on an as needed basis) 0-19 hours per week
  • Pay range $13.60-$21.76.?? Actual rate depends on experience.
