Responsibilities  

  • Transports patients to and from Radiology in a safe manner.
  •  Follows proper procedure for handling IV equipment, chest tubes, and OSHA regulations relating to bloodborne pathogens. 
  • Follows proper hospital protocol for Isolation patients. 
  • Identifies patient using 2 patient identifiers (patient’s name and date of birth) before transporting patient to Radiology. 
  • Identifies himself / herself to the patient and makes sure patient has ID Band on before transporting patient to Radiology.
  • Brings patient’s charts from nursing unit. 
  • Displays a friendly and caring attitude to patients, visitors, co-workers, and interdepartmental personnel.
  • Aides Technologist with trauma x-rays. 
  • Answers telephone and relay messages to appropriate personnel. 
  • Properly sanitizes wheelchairs and stretchers after each patient. 
  • Gathers all dirty linen in department during each shift, and places it in designated collection closet. 
  • Evening and Night shifts are to report any suspicious activity or security concerns in the Radiology Department to the security guards or house supervisor immediately. 
  • Returns ER patient’s to their designated room in the ER. 
  • Inform ED Nurse that patient is being taken to Radiology. Ask ER Nurses or Physician if patient can be removed from
  • monitoring equipment before disconnecting them and transporting them to Radiology. 
  • Checks O2 tanks and replaces them when empty. 
  • Reports any changes in patient’s condition or behavior to nursing / Radiology staff. 
  • Brings patient’s chart to Radiology staff. 
  • Lifts and moves patients safely. 
  • Notifies Patients nurse that patient is being taken to Radiology. 
  • Washes hands following Vidant Beaufort  hand washing policy. 
  • Initiates CODE BLUE procedure when appropriate. 
  • Initiates proper CODE RED procedure when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

  •  High School Graduate or equivalent. 
  • CPR Certified.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of office equipment is preferred.

Other Information

  • Part-Time position
  • 24 hours per week
