About Vidant Bertie Hospital

Vidant Bertie Hospital is a six-bed critical access state-of-the-art facility located in Windsor, North Carolina that provides surgical, emergency and diagnostic services, specialty clinics and primary care clinics. Our primary care physician practice operates the Vidant Family Medicine - Windsor and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Emergency Medicine Physicians see approximately 30 patients per day, as well a cover the 6 inpatient beds during nights and weekends. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region.


Position Summary

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for admitting all patients that present to the hospital for emergency room and/or outpatient services including lab, radiology, respiratory and outpatient clinic services. Responsible for obtaining all of the appropriate paperwork and signatures for compliance and appropriateness of services. Verifies insurance benefits and calculates estimated co-insurance and deductible amounts to be paid at the time of admission.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of some medical terminology
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills; ability to learn key data functions to accomplish job goals
  • Ability to interact with all levels of hospital management, staff, peers and physicians
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in a medical office or hospital setting

Other Information

  • Part-time PRN position as needed; no benefits
  • All shifts, but primarily evening and night shifts
  • Some holidays and weekends required
