Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.


The Outreach Coordinator supports the Administrator with hospital and pre-hospital strategic planning and marketing activities to promote business relationships. This individual is responsible for enhancing easy access to the Vidant EastCare/Vidant Health System through relationship management with referral hospitals, prehospital agencies and other healthcare providers. This includes actively participating in problem identification, resolution and program growth.

  • Functions as a professional representative of Vidant EastCare to support and uphold the mission, vision and values of Vidant Medical Center.
  • Strives for improvement of the Vidant EastCare transport system and maintains a positive customer service approach at all times.
  • Serves as Vidant EastCare principle contact with regional hospitals, EMS, fire, 911 centers and law enforcement agencies to promote the Vidant EastCare transport program.
  • Maintains a professional and neat appearance while representing Vidant EastCare during all outreach and educational functions. Maintains open communications with the Administrator and other members of the Vidant EastCare Leadership Team to ensure information flow and resolution of issues. Works to establish and maintain relationships with regional hospitals, EMS, fire, 911 centers and law enforcement agencies.
  • Communicates openly and effectively with all customers.
  • Assists in the development and distribution of Vidant EastCare marketing and promotional items among customers. Determines the most appropriate and cost effective marketing materials required for regional customers. Collaborates with the Administrator on the marketing budget and purchase of materials for sale, promotion, or distribution.
  • Assures continuity of the Vidant EastCare/Vidant Health image on all printed materials and products. Regularly calls upon regional customers to identify any needs or issues as well as provide follow up as needed. Visits Vidant EastCare satellites at least 1 time per month to build relationships and discuss market planning with Vidant EastCare crew.
  • Collaborates with the Training Officer and other members of the Vidant EastCare Leadership Team to develop and conduct Vidant EastCare educational and safety programs. Initiates, schedules and conducts site visits at regional hospitals and EMS, fire, 911 centers and law enforcement agencies. Collaborates with Training Officer to develop and implement programs to educate the community and public about Vidant EastCare resources and services.


  • Assists the Administrator in designing and overseeing ongoing marketing plan.
  • Develops and maintains database consisting of visits and contacts in the region. Documents the outcome of site visits and educational events and reports results to the Vidant EastCare Leadership Team at designated meetings.
  • Records all expenditures and forward reports to the Administrator.
  • Assists the Administrator in the review and resolution of situations arising from day-to-day operations within Vidant.
  • EastCare as they pertain to marketing.
  • Assists the Administrator in the implementation of plans to increase referrals to Vidant Medical Center.
  • Serves on assigned committees as requested to support Vidant EastCare in marketing issues. Exhibits basic computer skills including the ability to use word processing, computer database and spreadsheet software. Participates in special project development as designated by the Administrator.
  • Participates in patient follow-up activities as indicated by the Administrator and/or Medical Director.
  • Coordinates Vidant EastCare functions with other hospital departments/services and community resources. Serves as a consultant within the hospital and for the community in the assessment, development and implementation of services or programs.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 2 years or more of formal training/education is required.
  • EMT, Paramedic, or RN License/Certification is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience is required.
  • 2-3 year expedience in Air Medical Transport Marketing/Outreach experience is preferred.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
