Position Summary

Assist in the analysis and interpretation of Vidant Medical Center business operations performance. Works directly with executive staff, administrative staff and department managers to develop business plans, implement procedures, and generate ideas to facilitate improvement of performance metrics and meet organizational goals. Lead work teams to achieve operational and process improvement objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Works with leadership to translate long range planning documents into annual operational plans for staffing needs and/or new program initiative
  • Provides financial, business, and operational support for the service line to align with the organizational goals, and provides the direction, method, tools and training to record, measure, and track the financial and operating performance of these areas.
  • Conduct financial analyses including return on investments and operational business planning support.
  • Utilize expertise in quantitative analysis to assist leadership with personnel development and efficient strategic business and quality planning needs.
  • Compares operating and financial data on business plans in implementation and reports on their performance against projections.
  • Defines potential problem areas, trends and improvement opportunities
  • Assists in the compilation of market and operational analyses in coordination with department leadership, to support the budget and strategic planning process.    
  • Assists in evaluation of hospital operating plans, which may include service demand analysis, resource availability analysis and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Utilizes internal and external benchmarking information to review business operations processes, identify areas of opportunity and develop recommendations for correction.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters in Business Administration, Health Administration, or Accounting is required.
  • Strong analytical, project management, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance many competing priorities.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, word-processing, and presentation software.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Maintains a positive and supportive attitude and demeanor.
  • Professional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information
  • Three to five years of financial or business operations experience preferably in health care required.
