About The East Carolina Heart Institute

The East Carolina Heart Institute is the first in North Carolina devoted exclusively to education, research, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The institute is associated with Vidant Medical Center and East Carolina University. The primary facilities that make up the Heart Institute are located on the campuses of Vidant Medical Center and ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. We use the most advanced equipment and techniques to manage both familiar and rare cardiovascular problems. Our integration of basic science and clinical research, along with the clinical practice of medicine and surgery, ensures that patients receive the latest, most promising treatment options based on thorough review of their individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies patient and transports the patient from any are in the hospital to the OR. Takes patients to the OR Rooms from the holding area. Transports the patient to Recovery room or unit from the OR. Takes specimens to the lab, brings blood from the blood bank. Brings patient bed from the unit/floor to the OR as needed.
  • Assists Nursing Staff by bringing equipment/instruments to the room prior/during the OR procedure. Stamps paperwork, puts fracture table together and takes it apart.  Assists with patient positioning under direct supervision of an RN. Involves lifting patients and holding patients extremities for 5-10 minutes intervals.
  • Cleans the OT Suite between cases and at the end of schedule. Shave and preps the patients according to Doctors order under RN direction.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Also BLS Certification Required.
  • Prefer one year hospital experience or operating room experience.

  • 1 part time vacancy, 3:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
