Position Summary

  • The Therapist is responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of patient care. 
  • He/She uses purposeful activity or interventions to promote health and achieve functional outcomes by developing, improving and restoring the highest level of independence of any individual who is limited by a physical injury or illness, a developmental or learning disability or an adverse environmental condition. 
  • The Therapist is responsible for the teaching, delegating to or supervising other personnel in implementing the treatment regimen.
  • The Therapist is directly accountable to the manager for the quality of patient care delivered. 
  • He/She modifies and delivers care that is specific to the age, growth, and development of patients according to departmental scope of services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Current valid licensure or provisionally licensed by the State of NC Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and patients of varied backgrounds.
  • Additional training/certification as deemed necessary to practice in a specialty area as dictated by patient's ages or conditions and in specialty areas as dictated by the AOTA.

Preferred Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Primarily outpatient environment and flexible to work in other areas of the hospital, as needed.
  • Lymphedema trained or certified is preferred.
  • Comfortable with orthopedic hand diagnoses and fabrication of upper extremity orthotics.
  • Pediatric experience is a plus.
