Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 117-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home. Position Summary

  • The team member uses purposeful activity or interventions to promote health and achieve functional outcomes by developing, improving and restoring the highest level of independence of any individual who is limited by a physical injury or illness, a developmental or learning disability or an adverse environmental condition. 
  • The team member is responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of patient care and is also responsible for the teaching, delegating to or supervising other personnel in implementing the treatment regimen.
  • The Therapist is directly accountable to the manager for the quality of patient care delivered and modifies and delivers care that is specific to the age, growth, and development of patients according to departmental scope of services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy with a Bachelor's, Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • Progressive and dynamic knowledge of Occupational Therapy and a willingness to participate in continuing education, to remain current in new theories of treatment. Ability to work with other health care professionals in a manner that will ensure continued cooperative efforts is required.
  • Must have successfully passed the exam administered by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • OT licensure or eligible with State of North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT).
