About the Outer Banks Hospital

The Outer Banks Hospital, located in Nags Head, North Carolina, is a full service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital opened in March 2002 and is one of the newest hospitals in eastern North Carolina. The hospital's 21 private rooms are designed to meet the needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season. The labor and delivery area consists of two labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms, a five-bed nursery, a dedicated caesarean-section operating room and a triage room.


  • Responsible for and maintains the employee health program; annual screens, pre-employment, exposures, and immunizations.
  • Manages the volunteer, contractors, and travelers for appropriate immunization and drug screens.
  • Assures employee compliance with OSHA regulations (OSHA log & reports, BBP training).
  • Actively participates in employee wellness and prevention and promotes programs to staff at TOBH.
  • Attends appropriate committees meetings.
  • Manages all Workman’s Compensation cases and participates actively on the Accident Review Committee.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meet requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.
  • A minimum of three years relevant clinical experience. Must have the ability to form and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all members of the healthcare team.

Preferred Requirements

  • BSN preferred.
  • Occupational Health Certification preferred.
  • Prefer at least one year of experience in Occupational Health in an Acute Care setting.

Other Information

  • This is a PRN (as-needed basis) position. There are no gauranteed number of shifts and this is not a benefit eligible position.
