Position Summary

  • The Observer is a member of the healthcare team. 
  • The Observer is responsible for monitoring one or more assigned patients on a designated unit for a specified time period.
  • The Observer alerts the patient's assigned nurse and/or supervisor if the patient exhibits risk of harming himself/herself or others. 
  • The Observer may be delegated patient care tasks within his/her scope of practice in addition to monitoring the patient while under the supervision of the nurse.

Minimum Requirements

  • De-escalation training, required or must get into first class offered
  • NAI or NA II certification required
  • High School Diploma/Equiv, required
  • VH module (Staff Response to Disruptive Behavior) or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six months experience as a member of a healthcare team is preferred.

  • Part-time, as needed (PRN)
  • Times and shifts will vary
