Position Summary

Responsible for assisting with direct patient care within the scope of their practice under the supervision and guidance of a licensed nurse. Assist staff and healthcare team to ensure optimal care and to provide and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients. Document pertinent information in the electronic medical record in accordance with established policies and procedures. Communicates to a licensed nurse any changes in patients' status or any significant changes found when obtaining data. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organizations' vision and mission.


  • Must have successfully completed a state approved training and/or competency evaluation program for NA II. NA II must be currently listed with Board of Nursing and DFS without substantiated findings.
  • Assist with the collection and reporting of patient data including: patient vital signs, PO intake/output, body weights and measurements.
  • Assist in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse.
  • Assist in the admission, transportation and discharge of patients.
  • Participates in Environment of Care.
  • Follows infection control policies and procedures specific to the department, as well as other hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provides care using appropriate age and development approaches.
  • Must be able to operate vital sign machine, bed scales, Hoyer Lift, pulse oximeter, oxygen regulators, glucose meters, thermometer, chair alarms/bed alarms, call bell system.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Listed with the NC Division of Health Service Regulation as an NA II.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certification (CPR) - current.

  • Part-time, as needed.
  • Shift will vary.
  • Days, Nights, Weekends.
