About the Outer Banks Hospital

Located in the beautiful coastal town of Nags Head, NC. The Outer Banks Hospital offers high-quality care in a compassionate environment—it’s what we’re known for on the Outer Banks.

We opened in March 2002 as a joint venture between Vidant Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. Our facility includes eighteen acute care medical-surgical beds, two labor and delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, a level II nursery bed, a designated caesarian section room, three operating rooms, outpatient and diagnostic services along with a 24-hour emergency department. Affiliated with The Outer Banks Hospital is The Outer Banks Medical Group (a Vidant Medical Group partner) which is comprised of eight physician practices.

As a community hospital, we offer a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services. We meet the health care needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to 250,000 in the summer months.

Responsibilities

  • The Team Leader/Specialty Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients in the assigned department, in accordance with established policies and procedures of The Outer Banks Hospital.  In collaboration with the patient, the patient's family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, delegates and coordinates treatment plans and the plan of care.  Provides a therapeutic environment for patient care;  Responsible and accountable for providing daily leadership and support to assigned department  staff to ensure the provision of safe, effective and efficient patient-family centered care and optimal patient satisfaction.
     

Minimum Requirements

  • EDUCATION:

    Must have a minimum of a Bachelor Degree and current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or temporary North Carolina licensure or meets requirements to hold RN licensure in a compact state.  Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS HealthCare Provider status is required upon hire.

  • EXPERIENCE:                   

    Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a RN in an acute care setting. Previous oncology experience preferred.  Oncology nursing certification preferred.

  • This position serves as the Nurse Team Leader of both the Ambulatory Medical Unit and the Oncology Practice located at The Outer Banks Hospital.
  • This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position.
