  •  Responsible to the patient to provide the highest quality nursing care possible.
  • Responsible to promote cooperative working relationships with other units and shifts, with other departments, with physicians and other staff, and with other management and administrative personnel.
  • Responsible to nursing management and supervisory personnel and to the Director of Nursing to be familiar with and to follow the chain of command.
  • Responsible to Beaufort County Hospital to serve as a good will ambassador within the hospital and in the community.
  • Must work efficiently and effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Able to handle staff behavior and performance issues in a constructive manner.
  • Must be fair and nonprejudiced by friendship or by dislike.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, teaching, and communication ability.
  • Must demonstrate creative, problem-solving approach to unit and staff problem.
  • Must understand Beaufort County Hospital policies, procedures, and protocols and communicate, teach and/or demonstrate to unit staff members as needed.
  • Must not have any limitations to provision of directing and supervising patient care.
  • Must be able to perform all physical demands of a Registered Nurse (See RN Job Description/Performance Evaluation).
  • On an acute care nursing unit. Inside with brief trips outside for patient-related activity. High noise levels from some machines or patients at times. Often stressful working conditions or crowded working areas.
  • Directly accountable to Director of Nursing. Works closely with Nursing Shift Supervisor/Nursing Resources Manager and Staffing Secretary on staffing and patient care issues. Must be able to work independently with little guidance, and to seek help appropriately as needed. Completes work in an organized and timely fashion.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina

Preferred Requirements

  •  Preferably a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Certification in area of specialty desireable
