Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC.   • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient/client.
  • Assess the appropriateness of care by acquiring and evaluating clinical data and assessing the overall status of the patient based on the age of the patient
  • Assess patient’s current medical status to evaluate changes that require immediate medical intervention. Knows whom to call and what information to give and  Initiates proper Code Blue when indicated
  • Understands and abide by departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Obtains radiology order prior to procedure, ensures appropriate clinical information is present on order and that  appropriate exam is ordered in accordance to patients needs
  • Documents all pertinent information as pertains to patients’ past and current Medical History. Documentation of radiopharmaceuticalin Healthspan and of  patient  information  in PACS  as needed
  • Ensures the proper performance of the imaging systems, storage media, and radiation detection and counting devices, including, but not limited to, scintillation cameras, dose calibrators, survey instruments, well counters and uptake probes.
  • Prepares, evaluates and properly administers the appropriate radiopharmaceuticals (under the direction of an authorized user).
  • Reviews images to ensure that required information has been collected, processed properly, and is of the highest quality
  • Performs all procedures utilizing ionizing radiation safety and effectively by maintaining compliance will all applicable regulations, performing radioactive contamination monitoring and any necessary decontamination procedures, and disposing of radioactive waste in accordance with state and institutional regulations
  • Demonstrates safe operation of all Nuclear Medicine equipment in compliance with department policy, safety, disinfection, infection control and quality control standards
  • Charge for procedures, radiopharmaceuticals, and patient supplies while maintaining operating expenses
  • As directed by the supervisor may have additional responsibility as preceptor for students and/or new employees
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills for electronic charting, billing and documentation
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Uses department “scripts” to effectively communicate with other departments, patients, families, coworkers and students in person or over the phone
  • Uses universal precautions appropriately and performs proper handwashing between each patient
  • Participates in In-service Education, and obtains 24 education contact hours per biennium

Minimum Requirements

  • Current R.T. R. (NM) Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technolgist (A.R.R.T.) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or
  • Registry Eligible with credential obtained within 12 months from hire date or registry eligibility status
  • Nuclear Medicine experience required.
  • Current BLS, if not current at time of hire, must complete within first 6 months of employment and maintain
