Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

Vidant Health is conducting a search for a Network Engineering, this position helps identify opportunities and deploy technical solutions that enable improvements to the delivery of patient care and business operations. Works with a cross functional IS team in the delivery of network services and systems, hardware and software solutions. Helps support LAN/WAN applications, as well as wireless and security, as it relates to the Network Engineering environment. May be asked to lead and manage initiatives in this area. Will fill in for the Manager of Network Engineering as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains network architectures (LAN and WAN). Will help develop strategy for future roadmaps.

  • Develops and implements policies & procedures for standardizing network activities.

  • Designs and supports all wired and wireless architectures and delivery across Vidant Health. 

  • Designs and supports infrastructure and capabilities to support secure and assure compliance of any device access to applications.

  • Designs the implementation of the appropriate network connectivity, both to internal data centers and co-location data centers.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus specialized training min 6 months to 2 years or higher

  • Five to seven years related experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field strongly desired.

  • Certifications in related technologies strongly desired.

  • 1-3 plus years of relevant technical experience working in large scale Networking and Telecom Systems

  • 1-3 plus years in network technologies and a comprehensive understanding and hands on work of current Data Network, Telecom, and Video-Conferencing technologies

  • 1-3 plus years of experience with Wireless solutions across a multi-campus facility
