Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Network Engineering, this position helps identify opportunities and deploy technical solutions that enable improvements to the delivery of patient care and business operations. Works with a cross functional IS team in the delivery of network services and systems, hardware and software solutions. Helps support LAN/WAN applications, as well as wireless and security, as it relates to the Network Engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work Complexity (Technical Competencies): Participates in the selection and implementation of new data network and telecom technologies and adaptation of existing systems, based on the current strategy and roadmap. Participates in all aspects of an organization's network systems including software and hardware. Maintains network architectures (LAN and WAN). Responsible to learn about a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures. Participates in the development and implementation of policies & procedures for standardizing network and telecom work activities. Responsible for maintaining inventory, drawings, and other documentation to represent the network & telecommunication areas. Identify, process, and procure equipment and services. Works with contractors and consultants on network engineering projects on support. Provides expertise and uses good judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Supports all wired and wireless architectures and delivery across Vidant Health. Supports infrastructure and capabilities to support secure and compliant access of any device access to applications. Supports the implementation of the appropriate network connectivity, both to internal data centers and co-location data centers. Helps develop plans and monitors and implements infrastructure projects utilizing established collaborative project execution methods. Helps ensures that recoverability is a required component of all production infrastructure. Works closely with Security group to ensure all solutions meet security and compliance requirements. Adheres to on-going development of Vidant's IS project management methodology. Helps promote the philosophical direction of Vidant IS in the adoption of IT Service Management (ITSM) by being in compliance with IS governance and ITSM processes and ensuring ITSM subject matter expertise within the team. Applies rigorous testing and quality assurance techniques to all system changes and strictly adheres to Change Control processes. Participates in the development and annual testing of Vidant health´s disaster recovery plan to ensure the plans are current and effective.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, computer technology, information management or related field strongly desired.
  • Certifications in related technologies strongly desired.
  • 1-3 plus years of relevant technical experience working in large scale Networking and Telecom Systems
  • 1-3 plus years in network technologies and a comprehensive understanding and hands on work of current Data Network, Telecom, and Video-Conferencing technologies
  • 1-3 plus years of experience with Wireless solutions across a multi-campus facility
  • A technically strong individual with a broad and deep knowledge of healthcare IS solutions.
  • Able to translate information technology jargon into terms understandable by all audiences.
  • Understands customer operations, anticipates needs, and pursues effective and efficient solutions.
  • Works to be compliant with service level agreements in either an insourced or outsourced professional services operation.
