Position Summary

The Unit Secretary is an integral part of the nursing unit being involved in both patient care and documentation of patient care.?? The Unit Secretary is responsible for getting patient care accomplished by noting both verbal and written orders from physicians and takes whatever steps necessary to see that they are carried out.?? He/She documents certain portions of the patients chart and ascertains that physicians complete as much of the record as possible while the chart is still on the floor.

Minimum Requirements

The NA I must be a graduate of an approved course of study for the NA I Program and have a current listing with NC Division of Facility Services as a NA I.  The NA I/II/Unit Secretary must have a desire and ability to cooperate with and/or under the direction of others possess and exhibit a sense of responsibility initiative and honesty and dedicated to providing optimal patient care physician assistance and promotion of good will among coworkers.

The NA II must be a graduate of an approved course of study for the NA I and NA II Program and have a current listing with the N.C. Division of Facility Services as a NA I and a current listing as a NA II with the NC Board of Nursing.
