About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited, 900+ bed regional referral facility encompassing a Level-1 Trauma Center and extensive inpatient and outpatient services including intensive and intermediate care, pediatrics, bariatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, pain management and psychiatry.

Responsibilities

 The manager for East Care will work collaboratively with administrator in twenty-four hour accountability for the program. This will include supervising all transport crew, working on quality indicators/improvement, maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies as well as financial management for the transport program.

  •  Collaborates with administrator on twenty-four hour accountability for Program Management and Planning of East Care.
  • Maintains 24-hour accountability for unit operations.
  • Initiates, monitors and/or participates in program development, implementation, evaluation and revisions.
  • Sets, implements and evaluates program goals and outcomes in alignment with Vidant Medical Center mission, values, and strategic plans.
  • Provides written policies and procedures, keeps job descriptions current, and maintains other important documentation.
  • Promotes public relations to increase customer awareness of services provided.

 Quality Assurance

  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of interdisciplinary unit and divisional QI activities.
  • Monitors quality outcomes by utilizing trending data and benchmarking.
  • Serves as change agent in East Care and organizational transformations.
  • Creates an environment for empowerment and continuous quality improvement.
  • Initiates, utilizes and/or participates in studies or research projects designed for improvements within East Care and other departments at Vidant Medical Center.

 Human Resource Management and Staff Development.

  • Supervises, evaluates, commends, disciplines, mentors, and supports staff.
  • Provides necessary data to support patient care needs.
  • Assists Administrator in interviewing and hiring staff.
  • Collaborates with staff development assistant to support staff development by facilitating the assessment of educational needs and identification of needed resources. Evaluates the impact of staff development, endeavors.
  • Adheres to legal and organizational requirements related to personnel management.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal clinical competence and continuing education including maintenance of professional credentials required by North Carolina office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS( , North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBOAN) and Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport System (CAMTS).
  • Utilizes workload data to justify and adjust staffing needs.

 Financial Management

  • Participates and adheres to overall Vidant Medical Center financial plan.
  • Collaborates with administrator to coordinate the development of and adherence to budget.
  • Identifies and encourages cost saving opportunities within East Care.
  • Plans for capital expenditures and expansion of services with East Care Leadership Team.

 Collaboration with Medical Director.

  • Serves as divisional resource and/or participates on designated committees.
  • Creates climate to maintain and facilitate open lines of communication for the promotion of effective working relationships.

 Clinical Research

  • Demonstrates support of research mission of the organization through support of research activities.
  • Assists Medical Director and East Care Leadership Team with identification of research topics.
  • Assist in evaluation of the relevance of research efforts specific to East Care.
  • Participates in the interpretation of data for East Care.
  • Keeps current on research findings in clinical specialty area for program.
  • Assists staff in interpreting and implementing research findings in program.

 Accreditation and compliance

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), NCOEMS, NCBON, and CAMTS standards and requirements.
  • Aligns standard of practice with the CAMTS standards.
  • Collaborates with administrator to monitor Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and Emergency Medicine Treatment Law Act (EMTALA) compliance.

Minimum Requirements

  •  Four year college degree
  • North Carolina registered nurse or Paramedic
  • ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP - required
  • Minimum of 3 years as RN in air medical or ground critical care transport, 2 years management/leadership experience preferred.
