Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed, not-for-profit hospital located in Ahoskie, NC. The 15-bed ER serves approximately 21,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns. This modern facility provides a wide range of health services to its 39,000 residents in the four-county area.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. Ahoskie offers a moderate cost of living, a strong sense of community, and a temperate climate and location to support a variety of year round outdoor activities, such as boating, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and golf.

Responsibilities

  • Continually seeks to improve quality of services provided and actively participates in unit-based as well as hospital and/or Vidant Health-based quality initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Function as a member of the health care team.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient/staff relations.
  • Tactfully handles difficult situations.
  • Contributes to continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist in the collection and reporting of data.
  • Perform basic patient care activities in a proficient manner.
  • Assist in the admission, transport, transfer and discharge of patients.
  • Perform unit maintenance tasks.
  • Communicates effectively during the shift with the assigned licensed nurse.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize patient and department needs.
  • Demonstrate professional development on the job.
  • Effectively demonstrates the mission and values of the hospital on a daily basis.
  • Participate in education programs.
  • Assists in conducting supportive counseling groups
  • Conducts morning community meeting.
  • Functions as a member of the clinical treatment team.
  • Performs individual crisis intervention counseling as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate college degree (or actively pursuing) in Human Services Technology or closely related degree. 

  • Must be able to successfully complete Crisis Intervention Training.

  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly in writing.

  • 1 full-time vacancy available, 36-40 hours per week
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
    • Pay range $9.80-$15.68/hr.. Actual rate depends on experience.
