  • Transcribing medical information, types, transcribes and processes materials
  • Types medical dictation from mechanical dictating equipment
  • Types special reports
  • Transcribes patient's medical summaries, operative reports, history and physical reports, pathology reports, radiological film and fluoroscopic interpretations, autopsy reports, medical and surgical grand rounds and other medical reports from tapes, verbal instructions or from rough draft
  • Verifies information on patients, making necessary additions and corrections
  • Types letters, schedules, labels, memos, etc
  • Picks up and delivers dictated reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School plus 1 year but less than 2 years of formal training or education (General secretarial related courses)
  • 1 year of work experience in other hospital departments, medical records, or doctor's office
  • One additional year of education in medical terminology or medical secretarial courses can be substituted for the required work experience
  • Medical Transcriptionist experience in hospital, medical or doctor's office strongly preferred
