Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Marketing the Manager of Marketing position drives the following functions: developing, launching, optimizing, and maintaining targeted campaigns and marketing initiatives, including campaign analysis, performance reporting, budgeting and forecasting, as well as providing data insights critical to marketing strategy development and refinement for the organization.

The Marketing Manager will work closely with assigned key areas of Vidant Health as the strategic liaison for internal business partners and external vendors to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and plans. Primary responsibilities include serving as a "trusted advisor and partner" and primary point of contact for planning, developing and executing marketing and communications plans, solution discovery, service management, and relationship management. Marketing Mangers are responsible for proactively communicating internally with leaders and at the appropriate levels with business partners related to any business and marketing or communications decisions, priorities and relevant project information or initiatives.

Marketing Managers must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. The ability to communicate clearly, build trusted relationships and alliances, listen, mitigate risk in order to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of integrated brand, marketing and communications initiatives to achieve strategic and financial objectives for strategic business units are essential for the role. Contributions to in-depth analysis of business cases, justification for marketing investments and capital planning are also vital for this position.

Responsibilities

Uses strategic thinking and collaboration to achieve successful implementation of marketing and communications plans on schedule and on budget; conducts meetings as needed to report on progress and resolve issues and fosters a positive, collaborative team experience.

  1. Defines, develops, obtains approval, effectively communicates and manages the implementation and/or oversight of integrated marketing communication  plans for the client's defined strategic need or goals. Produces strategic plans outlining the business objectives, marketing and communication goals, and supporting strategies and tactics, key performance indicators, key milestones for success, budget, and variables that can impact implementation and roles of those assigned to the project.
  2. Projects positive behavior to department staff, team members and guests as evidenced by direct observation and feedback from others.
  3. Provides counsel and support to administrative and clinical leaders for development of growth strategies and initiatives, enhancing organizational knowledge and understanding of effective marketing practices.
  4. May manage Marketing Specialists overseeing their work plans, process, progress and effectiveness.
  5. Works closely with entire marketing and communications team to diffuse and adopt best practices, leverage expertise and shared resources, avoid duplication of efforts and achieve cost efficiencies.
  6. Collaboratively work with creative team and other resources to design, execute and validate effectiveness of marketing campaigns that support the overall strategic marketing plan.
  7. Coordinate as necessary with IS, Finance, call center, customer relationship management vendor, agencies and other vendors.
  8. Creates, maintains and monitors implementation schedules and work flow processes; develops, recommends and manages campaign schedules, manages and reports progress against approved implementation plan with client and internal division team members. Holds team members accountable for delivering agreed upon deliverables on time and according to the project scope and charter.
  9. Facilitates with internal business partners and internal team members all reviews and approvals of creative, communications and budget elements needed to implement approved marketing plans. Effectively communicates any changes or concerns by internal business partners to appropriate Marketing and Communications team members using established processes within the department. Effectively communicates and manages client deadlines for reviews and approvals in order to ensure on time and on budget delivery of elements required for plan implementation.
  10. Monitors metrics to evaluate effectiveness of campaigns and effectively communicate to key internal leaders on a defined timeline as noted in the plan. Ensures stakeholder's expectations are set and identifies and resolve disconnects through governance mechanisms or negotiation. Leads formal reporting of project status of assigned plans.
  11. Manages implementation of approved budget for all facets of the implementation plan in support of the client's goals and objectives. 
  12. Participates in business development and key operations meetings for assigned strategic business unit. Gather and assess necessary data and information to partner with expertise within Marketing and Communications to provide strategic connection and solutions: involves appropriate administrative, clinical, physician and other leaders in the strategic marketing design.
  13. Demonstrates and evokes highly developed problem-solving skills. MMs remain aware of how processes and systems affect the organization including what is or isn't working as they perform work and deliver services. Exhibits intellectual curiosity by asking questions about processes and procedures and always looks to improve process and procedures. Utilizes data and metrics to truly define the problem. Considers multiple alternatives in order to resolve issues, barriers or problems. Determines solutions with minimal assistance and makes effective decisions within scope of authority. Seeks to understand data and trends and brings ideas forward to prevent issues from occurring in the future.
  14. Demonstrates an understanding of the business of Vidant Health, keeping abreast of emerging trends and the competitive environment; continuously evaluating these impacts and recommend changes to strategy as needed.
  15. Demonstrates a deep understanding of Marketing and Communications and its services, and assigned department(s)/business units to identify and communicate how Marketing and Communications solutions can support the achievement of short-term and long- term business goals.
  16. Marketing Analytics: 
  • Analyze the marketplace, competitive landscape, industry trends, and third-party data sources to constantly identify new marketing opportunities and / or potential threats.
  • Analyze and present strategic insights to identify strategic opportunities for division and company as a whole.
  • Also serve as the project manager for special projects and duties as assigned by Marketing Vice President.
  • Utilize CRM tool to identify business opportunities, advise internal clients, and to inform the marketing planning process

17. Creates and delivers presentations that clearly summarize strategy and effectively reports to leadership as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required

  • Graduate Degree, preferred

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written 

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff and physicians, preferred

  • Individual should demonstrate an engaging and high energy approach to work with the ability to organize/prioritize work responsibilities.

  • Proficiency with PC-based applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Ability to function as a team member and execute the desired outcomes

  • Must exhibit creative, positive problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to foster collaboration between multiple parties 

  • Ability to think strategically and develop strategic plans that align with and support business needs

  • Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts to groups

  • Ability to think conceptually and apply concepts in a practical application

  • Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and determine a course of action

  • Commitment to a high standard of customer service

  • At least 5 years related experience

  • Prior experience leading team members required

  • Healthcare Experience in a hospital, health system or medical office environment, preferred

  • CRM experience

  • Experience with paid digital media, tracking, measurement and reporting, preferred
